Blogmas Day 3: Maid In Manhattan

Another easing into the holidays throwback. Going way back to the Jenny From The Block Days with Maid In Manhattan.

Another totally unbelievable movie with an even more odd plot, but Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes somehow make it work. This was the first and last time, Ralph Fiennes attempted to do a leading man-style romantic comedy.

Back in the day when I subscribed to Entertainment Weekly, I would read from cover to cover, the thick fall movie preview. It was a special double issue meaning it covered two weeks’ worth of content. Those were also the days when I would watch a movie once a week during the summer and during the fall.

I can still remember the feature on this movie, but I believe it was called The Chambermaid in the magazine article.

The movie doesn’t get too deep into the class and race conflict, but it does pop up here and there. This is a sweet movie and Jennifer Lopez is convincing as both a hotel maid and a wealthy socialite.
